Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉 January’s show was a fantastic start to 2025, with so many incredible entries from riders and horse lovers all over the world. It’s always amazing to see the effort, creativity, and love that goes into each submission. Thank you all for making this another brilliant competition!

Rosettes and prizes for non-sponsored classes will be sent out automatically, and international winners will receive a postal invoice before their rosettes are dispatched.

CLASS 7 - JUMPING STARS
1. Isla Halbert & Guinness - "A clear winner for me. It would have been nice to have a more square side on view so I could judge Guinness’ scope better, but from these images they looked balanced and happy. Your position is also steady and secure."
2. Tessa Halter & Kenay - "Firstly, I love the red theme! Lots of well angled photos show off how much Teddy enjoys jumping. I love the long rein you have and how secure your body is in each photo."
3. Naomi Silk & Chloe - "A good collection of images, I would just be careful of your upper body being too forward, which causes you to lean on your hands, but otherwise well done!"
4. Scarlett Ray & Peppards Castle - "A good amount of photos, some were a bit blurry which made it hard to judge, so be careful of that. Your position is excellent, a strong lower leg, lovely soft hands and steady upper body."
5. Charlotte Burrows & Eric - "A good collage, I’d like to see a few clearer images, but from what I can see Eric is a confident horse- just watch that you don’t get too ahead of his movement and collapse on his neck."
6. Emma Cooper & Gem - "Lovely clear images, just be careful that you don’t lean on your hands to keep your body steady. It can restrict the movement of his neck which is essential for jumping and athleticism."
7. Georgie Rooney & Marco - "I love this photo, your position is excellent and marco looks happy, but I would have liked a collage to properly show off his and your skills."
8. Connie Robinson & Paddy - "Same as 7th place, a collage is always better in this class. Also, make sure you crop your images to keep everything neat. Your position is beautiful though, so keep it up!"
9. Connie Ratcliffe- Mackenzie & Maddox - "I love a cob and to see one jumping is so cool. Some clearer images would have upped your placing, but good job!"
10. S Long & Troy - "Some of these images show a lot of promise, just keep in mind that clarity for images is crucial for judging. Also be careful to not get ahead of Troy’s movement, as it can cause those awkward moments."

CLASS 10 - AWESOME ANGLES
Judges's comments: "It's really important to read the class criteria and requirements carefully; there were lots of lovely photos in this class that showed your horse beautifully, but were taken from a very conventional angle. For this class, we wanted to see things from a new perspective, highlighting creativity and 'originality', so the photos that placed well demonstrated this the best."
1. Naomi Silk & Chloe - "this is a well balanced, correctly exposed image with an interesting composition. It makes it pleasing to the eye, and holds the viewer's attention, well done."
2. Laurie LaMontagne & Peanut - "this is an interesting image where the rein gives the eye a natural line to be drawn down to the horse's head - well thought out."
3. Laura New & Gina - "I like this image, with the foot drawing the eye to the focal point of the head, seeking out the detail inside the ear and the highlights at the ends of the mane, which is lovely"
4. Holly Parkes & Bruce - "this is an interesting angle that attracts the eye. The background is a little cluttered, and brighter than the horse which should be the focal point (the eye is drawn to the brightest bits of the image). It is very difficult to expose snow correctly however, so a good attempt - well done"
5. Megan-Rose Marriott-Henshaw & Bluewood Daisy - "I like the muted colours of this image, which creates a calm atmosphere. The horse being to the left of the image, with the eye travelling to the centre where the nose touches the mirror works really well - it's an effective composition"
6. Summer Richmond & Moonshine Myrtle - "this angle makes the viewer wonder what the horse is looking away into the distance for, which works well. The lovely long mane helps emphasise the curve in her neck, highlighting her interest in whatever has captured it"
7. Billy Jo Howe & Pumpkin - "it's really difficult getting good pictures of little ponies, because naturally, everything gets taken from above looking down. You've thought about how to combat this and have got low down to Pumpkin's level, showing him from an angle we don't normally see. The result is that he looks bigger, has more presence and we see his expression more clearly. Good effort."
8. Alexa Kavanagh & Ramba Zamba - "nice image, but I feel this is an interesting crop rather than an interesting angle."
9. Hannah Sales & Freddie - "lovely image, it would really enhance it and the clouds would be sharper if the mirror were clean! I'd love to see this one re-shot and entered again in a similar class with just some little tweaks - think about removing the cars in the background."
10. Holly Parkes & Indi - "Great shot, the eye is distracted by the bright rug and the horse off to the right, otherwise this would place higher"

Julianna Bjornson & Captain - "some lovely shots here, but some meet the class criteria better than others. I think this collage will place better in other classes - it has potential"

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you didn’t place this time:
Free Entry: If you paid for 2 or more entries this month and didn’t place at all, you can claim 1 FREE entry into a class of your choice for next months' show.
Second Chance Class, The Judge's Favourite: If you paid for 2 entries and didn’t place (AT ALL), you’re also eligible to submit an entry into our second chance class.
Newcomers: If you entered both the Newcomers class and another paid class but didn’t place in Newcomers, we’ll send you a small token rosette. Please note, both entries must be under the same competitor name.
International Postal Invoices: We’ll issue postal invoices within two weeks of the show’s end. Please settle these promptly so we can dispatch your prizes without delay.
Shipping Information:
UK Participants: We offer free 2nd class standard postage. If you prefer, you can upgrade to Tracked 24hr or Tracked 48hr delivery at an additional cost, and we’ll invoice you for it.
International Participants: Shipping costs will be based on the size and weight of your parcel. Please ensure shipping is paid for before we can send your items.

Here are your International Shipping Options:
International Economy: This option offers limited protection in case of loss or damage and can take up to three months for delivery. We do not use this unless intstructed by the competitor.
International Standard: This is our default service, which includes compensation for losses up to £20.
International Tracked: Recommended for those who’ve won 5 or more rosettes, this service provides protection up to £50. If your prize value exceeds £50, we’ll increase coverage to £250.
Signed For: In some regions, this may be the only upgrade option due to local postal regulations.
All parcels will be marked as gifts, with each rosette valued at £3.50. This ensures coverage for remaking the rosettes if necessary, within the limits of the insurance chosen. Please note that participants are responsible for any customs fees.
If you’d prefer to use a different courier, just let us know right away.
Important: International shipping costs are separate from your entry fee, so upgrading your shipping helps ensures that your prizes arrive safely.
